The Federation has gone to bigger vessels with more weapons. These ships are much too expensive to be used to Explore new systems or investigate First Contacts gone wrong. It was thought that a smaller vessel with limited resources would serve better. It was believed that such a ship needed a no nonsense Commanding officer. The Extension of Klingon/Federation exchange program would place a Klingon Lt. in Command. The ship a Refitted Defiant Class would spend long periods of time just outside the Federation studying long forgotten areas, due to wars, of space marked for Exploration. The ships resources are Few forcing them to get much of their Supplies from planets as well as their recreation. On the face it was unusual but the intent was to foster a greater understanding and, trust among the two Allies. A crew with the desire to work in a new frontier finding new places and resources for the Expanding Civilizations to go. There were ship built just for exploration with many labs, crews of hundred or more,most were scientists meant to study planets and Civilization then move on.
Then a few Defiant class vessels were chosen to Explore Areas where it was believed inhabitants were warp capable or almost warp capable their mission, to determine if they are ready for first Contact..

The Ships refit is finished as she sits ready to sail once again.
I may be unhappy with his assignment As I would have preferred a Klingon Vessel however, I will give the ship and, crew My best. Honor demands no less. Both ship and, crew will bring honor to the Empire, to the Federation and, to themselves. One day Warriors will sing Ballads of the USS TALON.
The crew could here his boots make a tapping noise against the metal deck as he walked down the Corridor toward TL heading for the bridge.
Footnote: The crew should be in their quarters small as they are, {captains quarters is much like Captain Kirks in TOS the rest are smaller}preparing to be at their posts in 15 minutes

Lt Kalore's log Supplimental:
It is believed that weapons fire within the Gas cloud some how speeded up the natural processes already in motion within the cloud its self.
The incident has brought us closer to our original destination as it seems escaping the gravitational pull sent us several light years toward our destination. After a weeks travel we are just outside the system of Phial .
I have had Federation news blocked from being received by Talons communications as the last report Showed who I could only Surmise was Ambassador Spock being bombarded by questions of Captain Kirk and, the Enterprise in much the same incidentjust over one hundred years ago.

Lt Kalore's log 65328.5 supplemental:
I have ordered the crew to the US Hebron.Yes there is a risk to the crew as it is slowly being pulled somewhere . Starfleet believes it to be Subspace though that has yet to be proven. The longer the crew is there the higher the risk is thy may be pulled in with the ship. Honor is not an easy road.

Kalloar 12:21 am[CO]::steps off the pad His mind already going through what they knew. the Planet had entered a nuclear war the cause seemed to be the Hebron its self as it entered the Atmosphere for some reason.He was not really familiar with Star fleet protocol. He did know however that Klingons would not sanction such an action. There was these so called Insect like creatures aboard the Hebron . What if anything did they have to do with any of this?

As Chance would have it we ran across a Planet that was much like earth however there seems to be no highly advanced intelligent life forms the planet is J type 33 percent land 66 percent water Atmosphere like earths. We have run into a group of inhabitant that are Humanoid and seem to be having a feast and/or Celibration of some sort. The crew beamed down some yards away on the other side of a large hill and is dressed in the native clothing
As Gymma Knows more about Federation officers than I, especially Humans as Until a few months ago I had never even set foot in the Federation.. I have given her the Responsibility of leading the crew in meeting and learning of the Inhabitants my only instructions were, Make use of your knowledge and, Enjoy. .

I have sent most of the crew to the planet for further investigation I admit I am more a marine than scientist However even the Empire make use of Science. I have Given responsibility of this part of the mission to MCPO Gymma Shavick we need to find out more a bout what caused the word to enter a nuclear war. Also I hope to find further information on the Hebrons involvement. So far it appears they truly are at fault here

He had the Screen set to watch the planet below magnified so as to see the Shuttle upon its return.
FOOTNOTE: Away team Consist of Gymma, Jacob,and Matt they will use @the away team finding what they needed to find gathers the rest of their things remembering their theory about the insects. The Defiant Is seemingly out of Control Red alert klaxons are going of throughout the ship. The hum of Impulse engines can be heard as everyone hurries from the mess hall to their posts. The assistant can also be heard requesting Kalore to the bridge

Sits at his desk in his quarters ::Lt Kalore Log: We have been traveling now for three weeks 9 hours at warp 8.5 followed by 9 hours at full impulse. We passed Star base 212 four days ago I was ask if we could stop but, as it was not part of our mission I elected to Continue without stopping We are now 1 hour from our next mission.
Footnote: Ensign Shavick is on the bridge in Command of the Ship while Lt Kalore is in his quarters it is 11 hours into the crews 12 hour shift All but Kalore are at their posts remember you have been at your posts for 11 hours with nothing going on but the routine of running a starship.
