He walked to his office, his boots echoing on the almost empty ship's deck plating. The few beq (crew) he saw he nodded when they acknowledged him.
Entering the meH (bridge) he looked around and his hearts called out to him. He wanted no he needed this mission to begin. He walked on to his office, entering he saw security had placed his belongings in place.
Walking over to the view port, he looked out at the station still holding his ship in place. Then he went to his desk, sitting down he started to go over the files, request for supplies, duty rosters, who was on board, etc. At times it seemed he was also an administrator.
He laughed no he roared in laughter at that thought. Him an administrator, may he meet Kahless first.

As the TL stopped he stepped out onto the meh.Like all Klingon ships function was placed far above comfort.Still the meh was large for a Klingon ship.
He looked around for a minute getting used to where every station was and how it was arranged.Looking over to his right he saw the door to the Hod's office.Standing tall and proud he walked over and hit the alert button.
His hearts were pounding not out of fear or nervousness but out of pride to be able to work with Hod Du'Ralle aboard such a fine vessel as this.

He heard his door alert checking he saw it was his XO.
"Enter." He watched as the Klingon entered measuring him with the eyes of a warrior.

As he entered the HoD's office he could feel his gaze burning through him.He locked eyes with HoD Du'Ralle not a challenge but to show he would not be intimidated. He walked crisply directly in front of the HoD's desk.
Standing at rigid attention he saluted his fist making a loud thud as he hit his chest armor."HoD Du"Ralle I am ra'wl' Kurn Son Of Tumek House of Najur reporting for duty."He held out his hand holding his orders.
He knew that his orders would be taken as what they were.Orders like any other report could be worded to make one sound better or more experienced than they were. The transfer to the borta'S would be looked at but anything else would be taken lightly he would be judged by his actions.
He stood at attention never losing eye contact with HoD Du'Ralle waiting for any questions or statements he was sure would follow.

He sat back in his chair and looked him over once more. As the salute was given Du'Ralle, grunted, looking him straight in his eyes. He took the padd with the orders, his eyes going down to the transfer order. Everything else was unimportant and could be more fluff then what he wanted to know. This Kurn would measure up in his eyes or fail. Failure would not be an option to undertake.
"Kurn, son of Tumek, House of Najur." the way he said it, you knew he was trying to remember if he was familiar with the names or house. To Du'Ralle, he felt you could tell how good or bad naturally a warrior would be by this information. Or if he/she would need extra time to train. He motioned for him to sit down.
"House of Najur, I served with someone from that house many years ago. A fine warrior, brave, died in battle, a short but glorious career. My blood still sings songs in his honor. Perhaps he is a relative of yours. Da'Kor?"
"Your house is known for its warriors. You have a lot to live up to, and I will demand that you fulfill that to the hilt. I will have no less form my first officer."
"Why are you worthy to serve under me? I would give my life, my blood for the Empire, this ship and crew. So why should I give it for you, are you worthy of that?"

Taking a seat and listening closely to the HoD,"Hija' HoD that was my uncle and that is how I know your name. That battle is still sung among my house and how you and my uncle fought so bravely."
"My house is known for its warriors and I will not bring disgrace to the Empire, you or this ship.I am a warrior first as I should be."He took no time in answering the question that was by far the most important.
"HoD Du'Ralle if you were to fall before me I would lead the crew and this ship in battle expecting them to carry on in honor of your death.I would have every warrior including myself to fight until their hearts could beat no more.Their blood spilling out of their bodies. And survive the battle or not I would make sure our battles would be sung by every House in the Empire. And if we fell the crew would be welcomed into the Black Fleet."
After he gave his answer he could feel the fire in his blood the passion in his words because they were true.He would not fail after all all he had to lose was his life and he could not think of a more fitting way to die.

When he stated Da'Kor was indeed his uncle, he nodded. This was a good sign. His eyes narrowed for a minute, "Hija, he was indeed a fine warrior and good friend." He then returned to listening to what he had to say.
"As my first officer I would demand no less, should I fall. But I would not count on that." his expression showed for a moment a hint of teasing. "We as warriors do not seek death, as many think we do. But we do not fear or hide from it under our covers, in the safety of our beds, waiting for old age to claim us."
"There will be songs to sing, and stories to tell, about this ship. This ship, this crew will live up to the highest expectations and demands. You will see that is accomplished. You are my eyes, ears and right hand always. Your loyalty is to me, ship and crew."
He sat back, "Have you questions for me?"

As he listened to HoD Du'Ralle he began to appreciate this crafty warrior. No matter the odds or the situation he would always have the ship in the best possible position to win the fight. He would also push his crew hard.
He could tell by HoD Du'Ralle's words that he fully understood that this ship with all its weapons shields and hull armor was no better than a dung freighter if the crew was not prepared.
He sat a little straighter when HoD Du'Ralle told him what he expected of his XO.After he had finished talking and asking him if he had any questions he quickly answered.
"ghobe' (no) HoD Du'Ralle I have no questions you have made a very clear picture of what you expect from myself and the crew."
Standing and going to attention he saluted him once more . "I am sure I have taken enough of your time HoD Du'Ralle and I have my duties meeting the new officers and crew coming aboard ship."He stood at attention as he waited.

He looked at him, once again looking this warrior up and down then to his eyes.
"Hija, you have taken all the time I will give you for now. Attend to your duties."
He again grunted his acknowledgment of the salute. Then went back to his reports, padds, etc. Their was so much to do before they launched. Unfortunately only he could attend to it. As the XO was leaving he heard Du'Ralle growl low as he went back to work. Kurn understood the growl was at the tedious paperwork and not him.

He gave a short nod and left the HoD's office crossing the meh(Bridge),

A few minutes after Kurn left he heard the announcement concerning the meeting. He hoped to make it to the meeting but he needed to cut a wider swath though these tiresome reports.
The more he considered it, the more appealing a surprise visit to the meeting was seen.

Finally the piles of reports was at a level that was managable. He looked at the work and decided to have a mug of raktajino and a bowl of naHjejmey (sharp fruits, thistle). He got them then sitting down he sat back after popping a fistful of naHjejmey, and washing it down with raktajino.
He returned to work deciding to finish this. growls.

Finally 3 hours later he finished this round of reports, and stood. Stretching he shut off the monitor, then took the mug and bowl to the reclaimer. He knew there would be more to come but for now it was finished.
He decided to go to the mess hall and have dinner. He could have eaten in his quarters, or the HoD's mess but decided not to. It would give him a chance to observe the crew.

He entered his office, after a satisfying meal in the mess hall, he got back to work. He found the first orders for the bortaS but he had to wait for an operations officer, while a doctor and science officer would be nice that was not as essential. Since this was to be as the fleeters would call it a shake down, to test the bortaS and see if he (ship) was ready or still needed a little work.
Du'Ralle got back to the other reports.
