Concern creased his face."Saavpek jailed?...I'm surprised I wasn't informed either? For what? And where are they taking her?" He started to rise slowly..he then noticed he still had the canteen in his hand, and a look of embarrassment washed over him. He quickly put it away and straightened the way he looked.
I bet I look a mess...ugh, YOU ALWAYS LOOK A MESS YOU MONSTER! He frowned and realized he was looking into her eyes, quickly he stopped and focused his look elsewhere in the room.::

"It's because she's Romulan. Apparently there's some law in effect that Romulans can't serve on or command Starfleet ships, so we're to take her to Outpost 101, at the edge of the neutral zone. And it doesn't matter that as Commanding Officer of the Triton she's done nothing but good for Starfleet..." The disgust in her voice showed through plainly. "Her only crime is being born to the wrong parents. It's enough to make me sick..." Her hands balled into fists at her sides, and her dark eyes blazed with anger. Realizing this, she took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down. "But for now there's nothing to be done about it. We have to follow orders. We may not like it, but what else can we do?"

::Al was confused.::Under whose authority was she sent there?::Now that Artasa was angered..Al started to become slightly less nervous and more so angry, saavpek was also a friend he had some history with. There are other captains in this fleet with romulan blood..Whats going on? he wondered.::

"The Admiralty I think. I only heard from Seirtuk, and I trust Seirtuk as much as Saavpek. No one said who exactly the order came from. I'll ask when I get the chance..." She began to feel overwhelmed again: Seirtuk had told her he wanted her opinion on pretty much everything that might happen while he was acting as Commanding Officer in Saavpek's place. "And there's another thing. Seirtuk's part Romulan, but they asked him to assume command in Saavpek's place. I just don't get it..." she released her breath through her nose in a huff. She didn't like the situation one bit.

Sotuks acting as commander?....What? I'd investigate but...::Al looked down to the sleeve where his flask was and sat.:: I'm not sure where I'd even get, besides. I'd say if I took on this job, I'd get the legs cut from under me..I have a lot of enemies..

"I couldn't ask you to do that," she said, looking up at him. "Everything will come out in time, I'm sure. The Triton will come through all this. She has to..." There was a pregnant pause, where she let the magnitude of the situation sink in, before she shook her head. "All this, and I haven't even asked what you've been up to."

I owe it to Saavpek..I may or may not show up on the triton sometime..::He gave her the "Thats if you wouldn't mind." look.:: I've uh..been trying to get ahead really. Hah. Been in the dealings of saving the lives of two ships. The Lexington and the Vigilant that is..::looks to TS for a moment and then back to Artasa.:: And, I'm still waiting to receive command..Oh! My duties to the fleet were finally recognized. I received the medal for distinguished service.
::Another look to TS.:: Hell...I've only been trying to get ahead in life...::There was a sadder tone now.:: I have some things under the table that I'm working on with some associates. Big things to protect the fleet.

The multiple filler-words didn't escape her notice, nor did the glances towards TSalarek. Something was making him nervous, something he didn't want to reveal right now. She made note of that and instead focused on his sad tone. I wonder what that's about... "Congratulations on the medal. It couldn't have gone to anyone better." And certainly there was no other in the fleet who worked as hard as Al. It had been one of the things she'd admired about him most. "But you shouldn't work yourself to death you know. You'd never get to enjoy all the good you did for the Fleet."

::He nodded and then there was a glint in his eye.:: I try to create a layer of small successes to fill in the gaps of my larger failures. :: He then scratched the area around his spines. Why was she being so..nice? Was it because they were in public? He couldn't help but enjoy himself though, even if he was trying to hide his excitement.:: Well what have you been up to Artasa? I'm sure you have your fair share of stories?
::He canted his head out of genuine curiosity...What are you thinking under that ebony clad head of yours?:: I wish I had time for other things really.

"Apart from current events, things have been fairly uneventful," Tara said. "Liam's learning a lot of new signs, and he's even started trying to talk, though he hasn't said any coherent words yet. And he's only had one paralysis attack since we found out he was hypokalemic, and that was fixed smartly with the medicine Doctor Ivery gave me for him. I just need to watch his diet." Now that she was actually talking to him, it was easier to be herself. "Perhaps you could come visit him sometime. I want to socialize him as much as possible so he won't have any of the same prejudices that seem to be so prevalent of late..."

::Al smiled:: Alright T-Artasa...::He wouldn't dare call her Tasa..not any longer.:: Although..eh..I'm not exactly the kind of thing children like to see. ::He frowned but then grimly smiled.::I really do appreciate the invite, that would be the last thing I was expecting. You know,I found something odd.:: He looked at her curiously.::

::His eyes were glossy and his look became blank. He pointed to her braid and softly said.:: You used to play with your braid when you were nervous...

Her eyes widened, surprised that he'd noticed that. "Oh... I kind of had to train myself not to... When I got kidnapped from the Phoenix, I realized it would be a red flag to my emotions. I needed to stop it. And I guess I just haven't picked it back up since..." I should've known he'd know I was nervous anyway... She blushed a little, the old blueish tint rising in her cheeks.

::He narrowed his eyes slightly and had a smug look on his face, almost as if he was trying to glare deep into her soul.:: I'm sorry if I embarrassed you...I just remembered you would fiddle with your braid a lot. ::When she blushed,he seemed to glow, as if the onyx specks on his scales were polished.:: Things like that come back to me from time to time, you know what they say. An Al never forgets.
