"I had just gotten married... and found out I was a podmate... I was a little preoccupied. And I was happy."
Sipping the water, she stared at the glass for a long moment.
"This changes everything ya know that? "

"Which aspect, being married or the attempted assassination?" He sighed at that. "Marriage never seemed to work out for me.. 4 engagements and I never even made it down the isle. Perhaps its for the best, though. A marriage interrupted…or fate intervened?"

"The assassination attempt... they've never tried killing me before. Capturing yet. Killing... not so much."
She continued staring at the water in the glass with a frown.
"I know it was my daughter... and that means I abandoned the one being I swore to keep safe... And I'm just supposed to accept that and try to eliminate the threat...."

"Nothing is ever that clear-cut Kia. You of all people should know that a situation is never just white-or-black, light-or-dark." Hesitating for a moment.. "You've redeemed other agents. What is the possibility that you could try to stop her without 'eliminating' her?"

"In this it is.. You can't redeem someone who believes they are right. Kaitlyn escaped on her own. The same as I did. The same as quite a few others have. Kaidie has embraced the teachings.. the doctrines.. she is an Instructor. You can tell by the way she feels. Its different. I can't explain it correctly."
She held her right hand out to him, motioning for him to sit.
"Take my hand. I'll show you."

He didn't hesitate to give her his hand. After all that they had survived together and the several years they had known each other, Matt knew that Kia seldom acted without thinking things through; even if the action seemed random or chaotic, it usually had a good purpose. "Alright; show me what you will."

She interlaced her fingers with his, the physical connection wasn't nescessary, but it was easier to explain away, isolating the memory and emotion and mental wrongness that she got off of Kaidie, offering that memory out to Matt, she actually shivered.
"This is how she 'feels'. That's the only way I know to describe it."

He couldn't help but feel an overwhelming repulsion at the sensory information he received. With a shiver running down his spine at it he would try to restore his composure, simply stating.. "There are times when I am glad that I'm mainly a touch-telepath. I would have hated to feel that at the time."

She finished her water, then looked up at him, pale blue eyes holding a world of hurt.
"They turned my baby girl into that monster. She's beyond redemption. She's an Instructor, a murderer, lost. I don't know how to kill her... correction.. I know plenty of ways to kill her... but somewhere in there I think she's still that hurt little three year old..."

Al walked in and obviously had much on his mind,he was slouching forward and walking menacingly. His eyes were curved in anger and his fists were clenched. The seven foot five gorn took a seat beside kia without even realizing it,the only thing he wanted was a drink. He looked up at the bartender and tried to give off a pleasant smile."The strongest thing you have..." he hissed. The bartender got al's usual metal cup and poured a nasty black substance into the gorns large chalice. Al took a sip and entered thought mode.

She looked to Matt, then released his hand and the bridge simultaniously. Her seat at the table letting her rest her leg in front of her slightly.
She managed a smile. "Hello, Lt cmdr.."

While he was still trying to process it all, he would have nodded reflexively to the Gorn. Though his features would remain largely impassive, Kia would likely be able to tell he was trying to think of ways to assist her.
"Good afternoon, Lieutenant Commander."

"Don't worry too much on that problem, Matt. Life will bring with it what it will."
Her half smile faded, looking back out at the stars. Her attention focused on Al again.
"When a Gorn youth is corrupted by a wrong influence and turns dangerous what is usually done?"

Matt's gaze would focus upon Kia's statement as he measured against historical precedent. There were a myriad of civilizations that condoned the killing of children who disobeyed and dishonored their parents. In more liberal societies such as the Federation, however, the very thought would repulse most people. No matter what someone did, what moral high ground can be claimed if you stoop to their level to get rid of the problem?
Of course, there was also the Machiavellian approach. Survival should take absolute precedent, leaving the morality of a decision to be debated ex post facto.

Not getting an immediate reply, she looked back to Matt.
"I've decided to let Sadie stay aboard the Phoenix... though the first slip up... and she's going out an airlock."
